Story in the music
Article
Avril's music is more than just awesome. It's also an insight into her life. Or at least that is my interpretation. Let me explain...
First off you have Let Go. It's an upbeat poppy album in which Avril sings about growing up in her home town and wanting to be a big pop star in songs like "My World." She sings about her immature relationships in "Losing Grip" and "Complicated" and her dreams of romance in "Sk8er Boi" and "Things I'll Never Say" It's an album full of young care free innocence.
"'m tuggin' out my hair
I'm pulling at my clothes
I'm trying to keep my cool
I know it shows
I'm staring at my feet
My checks are turning red
I'm searching for the words inside my head"
Then you move on to Under My Skin. Avril and future husband Deryck had met and were starting to get to know each other. Under My Skin was a whole different type of album anyway with a new more mature less jump around poppy album and it came along with songs such as Fall To Pieces that show Avril falling in love.
"And I don't wanna fall to pieces
I just want to sit and stare at you
I don't want to talk about it
And I don't want a conversation
I just want to cry in front of you
I don't want to talk about it
Cuz I'm in Love With you"
Finally you have The Best Damn Thing. Avril and Deryck are married and Avril is when and truely head over heals in love with songs like "When You're Gone" and "Innocence."
"i found a place so safe, not a single tear
the first time in my life and now it's so clear
feel calm, i belong, i'm so happy here
it's so strong and now i let myself be sincere"
So there you have it. My interpration of how Avril's music tells a story. Of course it could be completely wrong. But it's beautiful away ;).
